The Resurrection of this blog...

If I am correct in my calculations, it has been 3 months and 22 days since I updated this blog. There are many reasons I stopped blogging but a lot has to do with the college admission process. Yes, I am a senior in high school. I have 13 colleges that I am applying to, and that isn't fun. But anyways, A LOT of things have happened in 3 months...

  • Obama is the official democratic nominee
  • Obama chooses Joe Biden as his Vice President
  • McCain is the official republican nominee
  • McCain chooses Sarah Palin as his Vice President

The last bullet point was actually a big shocker for me. I actually thought McCain was going to choose Mitt Romney. But instead, he chooses someone completely out of politics. An interesting move. Since he did announce it days before his convention, it provided for the immediate attention of the media. No longer were they talking about Obama's democratic convention but on this new woman that appeared out of nowhere.

Everyone believed Sarah Palin was ideal...well, near ideal. She was a woman (what a shocker there) therefore, she could easily eat up the angry women that were torn apart from their leader, Hillary Clinton (I being one of them). She was a Christian woman, therefore snatching up those evangelic votes with her stance of Pro-Life, abstinence, etc.

But up to what point was choosing Sarah Palin as McCain's vice president negative to his presidential campaign?

Last week, we had two people come to our school and "debate". Both of them were involved in previous campaigns for the Democratic and Republican parties. One of the interesting things they said was the campaign must choose the right time to peak. For example, if Al Gore would have endorsed Howard Dean later on, we'd probably be seeing Howard Dean as the nominee. My point is this, the Republican campaign manager(s) chose the wrong time to peak with Sarah Palin. They should have waited. Having let go of it too long ago, made it easier for the media to pick on Palin. For example, the HORRIBLE interviews with Katie Couric and ABC World News anchor, Charles Gibson.

And now, we find out that she's trying to "steal the thunder" for her own presidential campaign in 2012....or might that just be manipulation by the media?
